A Bricks and Mortar Story
In 1908, after learning the masonry trade from his father, William R. Littlefield established
his own masonry business. Following in the family tradition, William's two sons, Roger
and Bill, joined the company in the late 30's. With degrees from Wentworth Institute and
Colby College respectively, Roger and Bill used their expertise and ability to expand the company into general contracting. In 1979, Roger and Bill decided to relinquish the reins
of their now successful company. They invited their sons, Roger C. and William D., their
long time superintendent, Dan Chase, and his son Tom to form a corporation to take the company into the future.
Bill and Roger have since passed on, and Roger C. and Dan have retired.
Bill, who has
worked for the company since he was old enough to carry a hod has taken his fathers
place as treasurer of the company. Tom, who has worked for the company since
graduating from Michigan State University in 1971, is now president.
Under the 2nd
generation leadership of both Bill and Tom, Littlefield Bros. has expanded
from standard
general contracting to the design-build concept, and is now one of the top dealers in
pre-engineered steel buildings designed and supplied by Package Industries.
